The True Rest That Prophesize

Josh. 21:43-45

1. The True Rest 

- Thich Nhat Hanh - Defines the true rest as, "Not planning anything, but just resting quietly in his/her place."

1) But the true rest is...

(1) Gen. 1:1-13 - God created the earth and God saw that it was good

(2) Gen. 1:27-28 - Man is in God's image and will fulfill His will

(3) Gen. 2:1-18 - The life in Eden where the four rivers flow

2) Salvation

(1) Gen. 3:15 - The restoration of the true rest of the woman's offspring

(2) Exo. 3:18 - Offering, blood of ancestral rites, and worship

(3) Isa. 7:14 - To the Israelites "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." - True rest

(4) Matt. 16:16 - "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

2. People who did not understand the true rest

1) People who lived in Canaan (Josh. 21:46)

(1) They did not know God 

(2) They worshiped idols (Eph. 2:2)

(3) Nature objects of wrath (Eph. 2:3)

2) People who received the blessings but did not enjoy them - Israelites

(1) Chosen people - The only people who receives God's love

(2) Nationalism - They understood the covenant of 'One God' but it was not a single-raced nationalism

(3) They did not know Christ, but relied on Schema, Torah, Talmud

3. The true rest that congregation members can enjoy

1) Possession that we have on this earth

- Family, health, friends, work...etc. 

> They are all from God, but these are not the true rest

2) The true rest of God's power

- Josh. 21:44 - Not one of their enemies withstood them.

- Gen. 1:28 - God gave the blessing of conquer and we must enjoy it in order to enjoy the true rest

3) The true rest comes from enjoying the rest that is given by God

- The LORD gave the Israelites rest on every side even though He already gave them the land

- Matt. 11:28 - Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

- John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not    let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Conclusion

- Enjoy the true rest that God already has given you and prophesize and be the true witness of the world evangelism in your field!
