Josh. 24:14-28
1. Serve only God (Josh. 24:14-22) </p>
1) Verse 14 - "Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD."
- Many religions have been born and the key of the religion is idol worship and it is to please Satan.
2) As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD (Josh. 24:15)
- Confession of the uniqueness of gospel of Peter (Acts 4:12)
3) Confession of the Israelites (Josh. 24:16)
- Then the people answered, "Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to server other gods!"
- Josh. 24:18 - "We too will serve the LORD, because he is our God."
4) Confession of Joshua (Josh. 24:19-20) - Serving is not easy
5) Confession of Israelites (Josh. 24:21) - "No! We will serve the LORD."
6) Confession of Joshua and Israelites (Josh. 24:22) - "You are the witnesses."
2. How are you going to serve God? (Josh. 24:23-24)
1) Things that we must throw away (Josh. 24:23) - "Throw away the foreign gods that are among you."
(1) Gal. 2:20 - Throw away yourself and unbelief
(2) 2Tim. 3:1-6
2) Go toward (Josh. 24:23) - Yield your heart to the LORD
(1) Matt. 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
(2) 1Thess. 5:21 - Test everything. Hold on to the good.
(3) Phil. 2:5 - Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
3) Serving (Josh. 24:24)
(1) Matt. 20:28 - "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
(2) John 13:15 - "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."
- Make the stone as a witness of this blessing (Josh. 24:25-27)
