A Woman Judge, Deborah

Judges 4

1. Jehovah is the true shepherd of Israelites (4:1-10)

   - John 10:11 - "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."

   - Psalms 23:1 - The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

   1) God acknoledged man's freedom (4:1)

       - Gen. 1:27-28

   2) God blocks the destruction of His people (4:2-3)

       - Jud. 4:3 - They cried to the LORD for help.

       - Jer. 29:12-13 - Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

   3) God raised the leader judge and saved His children (4:4-10)

2. Jehovah is the sovereign who led to a successful life (4:11-16)

   1) Barak who was afraid of battle (4:7-8)

       - Jud. 4:8 - Barak said o her, "If you go with me, I will go; but if you don't go with me, I won't go."

       - Heb. 11:1 - Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

   2) Sisera's courageous army (4:13)

   3) God who led the battle into victory (4:14-15)

       - Jud. 4:14 - Then Deborah said to Barak, "Go! This is the day the LORD has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the LORD gone ahead of you?" So Barak went down Mount Tabor, followed by ten thousand men.

       - Jud. 4:15 - At Barak's advance the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword, and Sisera abandoned his chariot and fled on foot.

3. Absolute death of Hazor's chariot Sisera (4:13-22)

   1) Relying on man's power (4:13)

   2) Sisera thought about only himself (4:20)

       - Jud. 4:20 - "Stand in the doorway of the tent," he told her. "If someone comes by and asks you, 'Is anyone here?' say 'No.'"

   3) Jael was the one who fulfilled God's righteousness (4:17-22)

Conclusion

- Because God loves His people so much, everytime we commit a sin, He sends a judge (leader) to help us not to sin again.
